چکیده
Materials and methods: Th e study group comprised 33 individuals who underwent TET with suspicion of myocardial ischemia, but no evidence of ischemia and with hypertensive response to TET, and the control group comprised 29 ageand gender-matched subjects. All participants underwent echocardiographic examination, brachial artery ultrasonography, and aortic ultrasonography for the assessment of left ventricular functions, endothelial functions by determining brachial artery fl ow-mediated dilatation and trinitroglycerine-mediated dilatation, and aortic elastic properties by measuring the aortic diameter 3 cm proximal to the aortic valve.

Transient left ventricular apical ballooning and exercise induced hypertension during treadmill exercise testing: is there a common hypersympathetic mechanism?
OBJECTIVE To describe two cases of Takotsubo like myocardial contractile pattern during exercise stress test secondary to hypertensive response. BACKGROUND Treadmill exercise testing is known to cause sympathetic stimulation, leading to increased levels of catecholamine, resulting in alteration in vascular tone. Hypertensive response during exercise testing can cause abnormal consequences, re...
متن کاملThe impact of moderate aerobic physical training on left ventricular mass, exercise capacity and blood pressure response during treadmill testing in borderline and mildly hypertensive males.
INTRODUCTION We sought to investigate the effect of moderate physical exercise on left ventricular mass, exercise tolerance and blood pressure response during treadmill testing, in middle-aged pre-hypertensive and mildly hypertensive men without any evidence of coronary heart disease. METHODS Forty of 52 male borderline and mildly hypertensive subjects (mean age 53 ± 7 years old) with a norma...
متن کاملEffects of Short-term Renovascular Hypertension and Type 2 Diabetes on Cardiac Functions in Rats
Background: The cardiac effects simultaneously occurring during experimental hypertension and diabetes have rarely been investigated. This study aimed at examining the effects of short-term renovascular hypertension and type 2 diabetes on cardiac functions. Methods: Five groups (7 each) of male Sprague-Dawley rats, including a control group, a diabetes (induced by Streptozocin and Nicotinamide)...
متن کاملRole of oxidative stress in the aortic constriction-induced ventricular hypertrophy in rat
Introduction:Severe abdominal aortic constriction above the renal arteries induces arterial hypertension above the stenotic site that is the cause of cardiac hypertrophy. Previous studies have shown that high blood pressure induces myocardial oxidative stress with conflicting results. In the present study, we assessed the effects of acute hypertension on the myocardial oxidative stress an...
متن کاملCan chronotropic incompetence predict life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias in patients with stable ischemic heart disease?
Background: Chronotropic incompetence has prognostic value of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in both patients with asymptomatic and symptomatic ischemic heart disease (IHD), regardless of traditional risk factors. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between chronotropic response during exercise test and the development of ventricular arrhythmias. Methods: 153 pati...
